The Crusades: Crescent and the Cross
|
A chat with a member of the audience, after our 'Carols by Candlelight' concert in 2004, resulted in Exmoor Singers being commissioned by Lion Television to record the sound track for a new documentary film called The Crusades: Crescent and the Cross. Composer Avshalom Caspi was to write the main theme and other music that would run through the film, capturing the violent clashes during the Crusades. After working with Avshalom in rehearsal on early drafts, the choir recorded the final tracks in the Metropolis Studios in Hammersmith, London. The orchestration was to be added afterwards so at the time the choir did not know what the finished product would sound like. The Crusades: Crescent and the Cross was first broadcast in the UK on the History Channel in November 2005. The film has lavish sets, stunning replicas of historical artifacts, and superb computer animation to recreate Antioch, Constantinople and Jerusalem as they once were. The music recorded by Exmoor Singers features throughout the film, and particularly during some very exciting battle scenes. |
