In 2008 Exmoor Singers released a CD CURTAIN as part of the Sounds: voices of our time project, featuring music entirely by living composers. Recordings from the CD have been broadcast on Radio 3 and Classic FM. The first performance of the Tallis Festival commission Love you Big as the Sky by Peter McGarr was broadcast in full on Radio 3’s The Choir.
Other recording projects have included two choir-only CDs for the Tablet magazine; a specially-commissioned recording for Radio 3’s Private Passions; music for a theatre performance of Henry V; and the soundtrack of the documentary The Crusades – Crescent and the Cross.
The choir performed live with Bloc Party at Camden Roundhouse as part of the 2007 BBC Electric Proms (broadcast on BBC2), and members of the choir also appeared with Snow Patrol on LATER… with Jools Holland. The choir features on the albums Intimacy by Bloc Party, A Hundred Million Suns by Snow Patrol and The First Days of Spring by Noah and the Whale.
Other media appearances include: Songs of Praise; a BBC documentary on Handel’s Messiah; and the art-sound installation A Record of Fear on Orford Ness, Suffolk for Commissions East and the National Trust.
